NEW CANAAN — Saturday’s Tailgate Party in Waveny Park has all the makings of a new tradition. Hosted by the newly formed Waveny Park Conservancy nonprofit, the evening party included bands, large-screen football game projection, and some of the fancier examples of elegant tailgate parties you’re likely to find.

“Everything we make goes right to the grounds of Waveny,” said Louise Havens, board member, noting there were $2.4 million in work they hope to help get done.

“It’s the heart of New Canaan,” she said of the 400-acre park.
