NEW CANAAN — While Saturday’s snowy weather might have grounded Santa’s traditional helicopter landing at Mead Memorial Park, he still made his annual appearance at Greggs Garden Center & Landscaping.

“We do this to give back to the community,” said Barry Coleman, store manager, noting that customer donations help make the event happen.

Dozens upon dozens of families lined up through the center of the store waiting to see St. Nick, energized by trays of goodies laid out for them.

“It’ll be around 300 or 400 people,” said Coleman, noting that around 1,500 usually come out to the park to see “Santa’s Arrival by Helicopter.”
