NEW CANAAN — The magic of summer was celebrated Saturday evening when the New Canaan Nature Center held its annual Night of 1,000 Fireflies educational talk and woodland walk.

“It always sells out,” said Michelle Hipps, director of community engagement, who led a short lecture to around 50 participants, who then set off on the trails to spot the green glowing beetles as they came out after dusk.

“I think there’s something about the magic of fireflies that people love,” she said.
