NEW CANAAN — The consumption of sumptuous shellfish was a great way for the community to help this weekend when the Rotary Club of New Canaan hosted its Lobsterfest fundraiser.

Held on the grounds on the New Canaan Historical Society, the feast for charity drew hundreds of people to a shell-cracking community feast both Friday evening and all day Saturday, with many grabbing their food to go as well.

“It’s our largest fundraiser of the year and net proceeds are all donated,” said Valerie Connolly, president.

“Last year we cooked 1,300 lobsters, so we would love to surpass that that year,” said Connolly, noting that the philanthropic community club was always looking for new members
