New Canaan Emergency Operations Center Director Michael Handler said he hopes for the best with the storm, but said the town is prepared for the worst, with the EOC fully staffed and standing by.

He said an earlier car accident on Oenoke Ridge and Heritage Hill roads broke a telephone pole and damaged a transformer, leading to the first power outages in New Canaan.
