Glass House tours begin May 1

Tickets are available for Glass House tours, which run from May 1 to Nov. 30.
New this season at the Glass House, a site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, will be self-guided tours.
Self-guided tours will be available on select dates and offer visitors an opportunity to experience the Glass House campus and its landscape at their own pace. In addition to the permanent art collection and temporary exhibitions, visitors will have access to seven structures designed by Philip Johnson, including the Glass House, the Painting Gallery, the Sculpture Gallery, Da Monsta and the Library, as well as the lower landscape's Pond Pavilion and Lincoln Kirstein Tower.
Glass House guides will be available to provide historical background and answer questions.
Tours begin and end at the Glass House Visitor Center, 199 Elm St., New Canaan. Tickets are $75.

Pure Glass House Tour: a one-hour guided tour that visits the Glass House. Visitors will spend time inside the house and outside on the promontory overlooking Johnson's 49-acre curated landscape. Visitors will be picked up from the entrance to the Glass House at the conclusion of the tour. The cost is $30.
Site Tour: a two-hour guided tour of the Glass House site by walking through the 49 acres. Visitors will view the 14 architectural structures and world-class art and design collection, and explore the interiors of the house, Painting Gallery, Sculpture Gallery and Da Monsta. The walking tour is three-quarters of a mile. The cost is $50.
Extended Tour: a two-and-a-half-hour tour that offers visitors more time, a smaller group and increased access to the Glass House's acreage, the 14 architectural structures and private art and design collection. In addition to the interiors of the Glass House, Painting Gallery, Sculpture Gallery and Da Monsta, visitors will have access to Johnson's Library/Study housing his private architectural literature collection. The cost is $100.
Private Tour: a two-and-a-half-hour guided behind-the-scenes tour of the Glass House site, specially designed to provide an in-depth, detailed look. From art and architecture to landscape, the tour provides access to Johnson's 49-acre landscape, the 14 architectural structures and the private art and design collection including the opportunity to explore the art galleries, Library/Study and close access to the Pond Pavilion. The cost is $250 by appointment; $200 of the ticket price is tax-deductible and supports ongoing preservation and education efforts.
