Getabout, the van-based transportation service for New Canaan's senior and special-needs residents, received a double dose of support from First County Bank and the First County Bank Foundation.

As part of an ongoing effort to support the mission of Getabout, First County Bank sponsored one of the organization's vans used to provide rides. Getabout also received a grant of $5,000 from the First County Bank Foundation.

A public-private partnership established in 1982, Getabout provides transportation to any location in New Canaan and to medical destinations in Darien, Norwalk, Stamford and Wilton. For many residents, Getabout is their only means of affordable transportation, enabling them to maintain independence and a high quality of life in the community. With a fleet of five wheelchair-accessible multipassenger vans, Getabout provides more than 10,000 individual rides to local residents annually.

Getabout has received grant money from the First County Bank Foundation every year since 2002.

First County Bank has a branch at 95 Park St.
