Judy Fuegner has been promoted to chief dispatcher at Getabout.
Fuegner has been assisting with dispatch over the past year and has been affiliated with Getabout for almost eight years, originally as a part-time driver.
She has 15 years' transportation experience with Norwalk's Star Inc. and has worked with seniors and special needs riders for New Canaan's Waveny Care Center as its former transportation coordinator. Her background is ideal for anticipating the needs and issues for Getabout's riders, including those seeking medical transportation to appointments in New Canaan, to Norwalk and Stamford hospitals and the Tully Center.
An avid motor sports enthusiast and former motorcycle racer, Fuegner is a member of the National Hot Rod Association. She has lifetime membership as secretary and chaplain with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 603, Ladies Auxillary in Norwalk. She also has experience with special-needs riders via Greater Opportunities for Adults with Learning Disabilities, based in Fairfield.
Getabout offers no-cost nonemergency medical rides, with 24-hour advance reservations to medical offices in New Canaan, Darien, Norwalk, Stamford and Wilton. Transportation is available Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
