The work of Lori Eubanks, who was inspired by the French impressionists, will be on display at the Sorelle Gallery through July 11.

Eubanks' recent paintings reflect the beauty that can be found in nature, while using color to reflect light and atmosphere, according to a release from the gallery. Her oils depict a variety of subjects, many focusing on her love of floral arrangements and gardening.

"I use many layers of paint in my work to allow me to pull the under color to the surface and create depth and movement to highlight form and the way light defines a subject," Eubanks states on Sorelle's website. "Through rich colors and joyful scenes, my paintings reflect the beauty I find in life. My creative process often involves Coronas, bare feet and good music."

Eubanks travels throughout the United States and Europe seeking new inspiration. She has painted in both Monet's gardens and the French countryside. Her work has been exhibited in a show of American artists in Giverny, France, at Galerie Les Agapanthes, as well as in a number of private and corporate collections and in galleries in Bucks County and Camphill in Pennsylvania.

She has studied under impressionist Ted Goerschner in California and Thomas Trausch in Chicago, according to the gallery.

The gallery, at 84 Main St., New Canaan, is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
