A 22-year-old Forest Street man faces felony burglary charges after police arrested him for breaking into cars outside a Locust Avenue condo complex early Sunday.
Dale Wayton, of Forest Street, was charged with one count of second-degree burglary, two counts of attempted burglary, and one count of fifth-degree larceny, New Canaan Police Lt. Jason Ferraro said.
Police responded at 3:33 a.m. to a report about a suspicious male walking around parked cars at 81 Locust Ave. trying to enter them, Ferraro said.
The man identified as Wayton was seen entering an unlocked vehicle by a resident before police arrived, Ferraro said.
Confronted by police, Wayton began to walk away but stopped and was apprehended by police on the scene, which included K-9 Officer Apollo and his handler Officer David Rivera, Ferraro said.
Wayton was found with an iPhone, cigarettes, and unspecified amount of cash he took from a car, Ferraro said.
He was released on $25,000 bond, and is to appear in state Superior Court in Stamford.
