The town of New Canaan will hold its rescheduled seasonal flu clinic on Sunday, Oct. 18, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Saxe Middle School.

New Canaan's Health Department is offering its annual flu clinic for residents 4 and older. The clinic will be staffed by doctors, nurses and health professionals from New Canaan

In order to keep the clinic running smoothly, flu shot recipients should come during the time slot allotted for people with last names as follows: A through L 1 to 3 p.m. and M through Z, 3 to 5 p.m. All participants should have identification and should wear short sleeves. For the fastest service, visit www.newcanaan.info and print out their consent form in advance.

The cost of the flu shot is $30. Residents with Medicare should bring their Medicare cards showing Part B (medical) coverage. Others can pay with cash, check, Visa or MasterCard.

According to the Center for Disease Control, the single best way to protect against the seasonal flu is to get vaccinated each year. The center recommends that the following people get vaccinated each year: children 6 months to 19 years old, pregnant women, people 50 and older, people of any age with certain chronic medical conditions, people who live in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities, and people who live with or care for those at high risk for complications of the flu, including health-care workers, caregivers of children less than 6 months of age, and caregivers of those who are at high risk from complications of the flu.
