The Outback, New Canaan's Teen Center, has announced that it has received major sponsorship funding from First County Bank.

"First County Bank is pleased to support the Outback's mission of providing a positive and enriching environment in New Canaan where teens are able to relax, socialize, participate in self-directed activities, and have the opportunity to contribute to the community," First County Bank assistant vice president and bank manager Michael Victor said.

"We are very grateful for the generosity First County Bank has shown us again this year, by increasing their gift to us. They are our lead corporate sponsor, and thanks to their support, we are better able to offer program services to students in grades 5 through 1," Outback Board of Directors president Christina Fagerstal said. "The Outback relies on generous donations of residents and organizations such as First County Bank to support our youth leadership and community service programs."

The Outback's programs are open to students in grades 5 through 12, and range from hip hop, web site design, and recording studio classes, to community service projects and college prep classes, to themed, age-appropriate parties and leadership development opportunities. The Outback works hand-in-hand with other town entities including New Canaan CARES, Kids Helping Kids, Saxe Middle School, St. Luke's, St. A's, the New Canaan Country School, YMCA, New Canaan Nature Center, and New Canaan Youth Services, among others, to provide unique and enriching activities as safe, social alternatives.

"The Outback is open to all and, in order to expand programming to younger students, we have opened membership to fifth- and sixth-graders who attend school in New Canaan and are working to support NCHS clubs by hosting team dinners and fundraising events," Fagerstal said. "When students become Outback members they are able to participate in so many wonderful programs which benefit the community as well as the kids themselves. Generous gifts such as First County Bank's sponsorship allow us to continue to provide these services to teens in New Canaan."

Those who join the Outback have access to members-only events as well as free rentals and discounts off all classes and events. Outback membership is available to middle school and high school students. Individual memberships are $60; family memberships (for three or more students) are $99.
