The First Presbyterian Church in New Canaan is hosting the Rev. Dr. Julie Faith Parker, a visiting assistant professor at Andover Newton Theological School in Newton Centre, Mass., at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4.

As part of the church's series of adult education classes, "The First Christmas Presence: Joseph, Mary and Jesus," Parker will discuss "Meeting Mary: A Nice Jewish Girl." To prepare for the class, read Luke 1:1-2:40.

Parker concludes the series Wednesday, Dec. 11, with "Jesus as a Baby and Boy: Would You Want to be His Parent?" Luke 2:41-52 is suggested reading prior to the class.

Admission to the classes is free, but a buffet-style dinner at 5:30 p.m. costs $10. For dinner reservations, call 203-966-0002.
