Keith Marshall, the director of education at the New Canaan Nature Center, has resigned, he stated in a letter to the community issued Wednesday.

He wrote:

"I have been working at the New Canaan Nature Center for the last 5 ½ years as the Director of Education. I had the pleasure of overseeing the vast array of education programs offered including the Preschool, Summer Camp, School Programs, Afterschool programs and public programs/events. The Nature Center has changed in so many ways over the last 5 plus years which has made my time here exciting and worthwhile. Being a part of this organization and the community that utilizes, engages and supports it has helped me to grow professionally and personally.

"It is with sadness to let the community know that I am leaving the Nature Center. It is on the best of terms and I know that what I leave behind is ready for great things. I am heading on to another adventure up in Vermont with my family. It is a good move for us but it is hard to leave New Canaan.

"From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank all the amazing staff at the New Canaan Nature Center as well as the community whom I have had the honor to serve. I especially want to thank those kids whom I have taught, laughed with, had wonderful nature adventures in the woods and fields here, showed our animals to and just shared wonderful times together -- you have touched my heart deeply.

I will see you all at Fall Fair -- I will be the one with the chicken suit on again at the apple slingshot! (Can't get rid of me that easy.)

All my best to you here in New Canaan."
