Police are looking for a woman who they say stole a dress and a clutch handbag from Vineyard Vines, 67 Elm St., New Canaan, May 7.
An employee called police at 1 p.m. after a customer "abruptly" left the store with a $125 turquoise sleeveless dress and a $128 clutch handbag she had taken into the dressing room, according to the report.
The employee said she and another worker were busy helping customers when the suspect went into the dressing room, police said. After the woman left the store, the employee went into the stall and found an empty hanger and paper used to stuff the handbag, according to the report.
The suspect is described as a white female in her 20s or 30s, 5 feet tall and with blond hair.
The store's surveillance video is under review.
