Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County will celebrate the life and music of the late jazz great Dave Brubeck at a gala fundraising event on Saturday, April 27, at Woodway Country Club in Darien.
"The theme of this year's event is Making a Difference and we are pleased to be paying tribute to the legendary Dave Brubeck, who was a special friend of Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County," said Judy Higby, event chairman. "We are grateful for his life, legacy, support and commitment to the important work of this agency and we honor his memory."
The event will be emceed by Diane Smith, Emmy Award-winning TV journalist, radio talk-show host and author, and will feature cocktails and dinner along with musical performances and a silent auction.
The auction will include Brubeck memorabilia donated by his family, a bass guitar or trombone lesson with Chris Brubeck, a special CD of Dave Brubeck's last recording session and more.
Pianist Glenn Zaleski, a Brubeck Institute graduate, will perform. Singer Dianne Mower will perform a set of Brubeck's vocal pieces, accompanied by Matt de Chamberlin on piano. She will be joined by NPR radio personality Colin McEnroe.
