The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. and will feature hors d'oeuvres and wine. Anthony Radice and the Street Life Band will provide the music. Attire is festive, and all levels of dance ability are welcome.
The club was founded in 1964. Its events have been exclusively in local country clubs, and nearly always black-tie, featuring a full, sit-down dinner and a live band. This year, the club's plan is to lighten up attire-wise and spread out venue-wise, in an effort to connect more with the New Canaan community.
The Carriage Barn, a 19th-century stone barn on the grounds of the former Waveny Estate at 681 South Ave., also is the home of the New Canaan Society of the Arts. The day after the dance, the Carriage Barn's new exhibition, the 36th annual Members' Show, opens with a reception. Those who attend the dance will have a preview of the art show. Additionally, Arianne Kolb, the Carriage Barn's new co-director, will briefly describe what is planned for the upcoming season, which will include a program for children.
Tickets are $125 per couple. Reservations must be made by Sept. 7. For reservations, visit newcanaandanceclub.vpweb.com.
