Cyclist taken to hospital, driver given warning after collision

A 52-year-old Darien man was struck while riding his bicycle outside Saxe Middle School by a 78-year-old South Salem, N.Y., driver.
Police said the cyclist was traveling east on Farm Road and the driver traveling west. The driver attempted to turn left into Saxe Middle School in front of the cyclist, according to police.
The collision threw the cyclist from his bike and onto the pavement, hitting his head and craching his helmet. He was transported to the hospital, said police.
Another cyclist, with whom the Darien man was riding, confirmed the sequence of events to police, according to the report.
