Mark T. Richardson, 58, of 28 Richmond Hill Road, New Canaan, was arrested May 11 on charges of driving under the influence and failure to drive right.

Police said an officer on patrol saw Richardson pulling out of the Roger Sherman Inn, 195 Oenoke Ridge, just after midnight, and observed him traveling slowly, swerving and crossing over the double yellow line.

Richardson was pulled over at the corner of Cherry and Park streets, which is about 0.2 of a mile away from his house, according to the report.

As the officer approached the driver, he smelled alcohol coming from Richardson's breath, according to the report. The driver was administered a field sobriety test, which he failed, police said.

He posted $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in court May 22.
