Clear, cold day today; threat of weekend snow remains

A sunny, but still extremely cold day is on the way once again for Southwestern Connecticut, according to the National Weather Service. Despite the sun, there is the possibility of isolated flurries pushing down from the Great Lakes and hitting across Fairfield and New Haven Counties as the day progresses.
The wind that chilled the air to frigid temperatures yesterday has mostly moved out of the area, but gusts could still be in the 10-15 miles per hour range, possibly reaching as high as 20 miles per hour.
The rest of this week will bring much of the same. Clear and chilly days, frigid nights with the possibility of flurries. Saturday will be a bit warmer and temperatures could touch into the low 40s.
A hazardous weather outlook from the NWS still looms for Fairfield and New Haven Counties for Sunday night into Monday. But latest forecasts show that the snow storm tracking from the South and heading up the coast will brush by and make landfall only in Western New England, before turning out to sea.
The NWS still says that there is the chance that a "significant storm [will] impact the tri-state area." Meterologists will be keeping an eye on the storm, which could turn back at our area.
Next Monday through Wednesday will be cold, with snow possible Monday night as well.
Sunset today will occur at 4:25 p.m. and there will be 9 hours and 13 minutes of sunlight.
Sunrise on Friday will occur at 7:12 a.m.
