A broken water main, which flooded New Canaan's Main Street Tuesday afternoon, was repaired at 1 a.m. Wednesday.

The accident happened at 2 p.m. outside 70 Main St. -- in front of Jos A. Bank, according to Peter Fazekas of Aquarion Water Company. The clothing store was the only business that didn't have water until the main was fixed.

Aquarion crews replaced two 9-foot sections of the water main, Fazekas said. The work took that much time because of the high number of utility poles in the area.

All restaurants in the area opened normally Tuesday night.
