The Pro Arte Singers and Festival Chorus will mark the Benjamin Britten centennial year of 2013 with three popular works by the English composer at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan, 178 Oenoke Ridge Road.
Under the direction of Arthur Sjogren, they will perform "Te Deum in C," "Rejoice in the Lamb" and "Festival Te Deum."
Sjogren and a small group of professional singers who shared his dream of performing the world's finest choral music formed the Pro Arte Singers in 1973.
Each year since, they have grown in artistic achievement and critical acclaim through their annual concert series, professional recordings, appearances around the state in classical concert series, and the regular commission of new works by prominent composers.
The Pro Arte Singers is a nonprofit ensemble, supported in part by private contributions and public grants including one from the Connecticut Office of the Arts.
Single concert tickets, available at the door, are $25 for adults and $20 for seniors and students. Three-concert season subscriptions are $75 for adults and $60 for seniors and students.
