Therese Anne Fowler, the author of the recently released biographical novel "Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald," will be the guest speaker at New Canaan Library's Literary Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at the Woodway Country Club, 540 Hoyt St., Darien.
The theme of the Literary Luncheon focuses on Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgerald and the Great Gatsby era. The Fitzgeralds were one of the literary world's most fascinating couples. They were charismatic, brilliant and mercurial; friends with literary and intellectual giants of the time, living a life of excess and privilege. Though they were both possessed their own specific demons, Zelda in particular has been portrayed in many different and often unflattering ways.
What emerges in Fowler's book is a complex, three-dimensional and very human Zelda Fitzgerald, who was a talented writer and artist in her own right, overshadowed and derailed by her husband.
Tickets begin at $100, with tables of 10 available for purchase. For information or tickets, visit newcanaanlibrary.org or call 203-594-5025.
