The Artscapades program at New Canaan Library will present the second lecture of its European art series Monday, Oct. 28.
Robin Hoffman and Jodi Stiffelman of ArtScapades will speak on "Romanticism: From Rational to Emotional" at 7 p.m. in the Adrian Lamb Room.
"Romanticism" is the second lecture in a six-part series that examines European art from the mid-18th century through the end of the 19th century. The lecture will explain how Romanticism championed the spiritual over the rational, and nature over science. Works by the artists Goya, Friedrich, Constable, Turner and Delacroix will be presented.
The series continues on Monday, Nov. 25, with "Realism: From Dramatic to Ordinary."
