Bob Seelert, chairman of Saatchi & Saatchi, one of the world's leading creative ideas/advertising companies, will launch the Business Leadership Seminar Series sponsored by the Alliance of Business Professionals and the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce.

The first event, "What's Your Inspirational Dream?" is on Thursday, Dec. 8, from 8 to 9:30 a.m. in the Adrian Lamb Room at the New Canaan Library. It will be an interactive seminar which will help business owners transform their "Mission Statement" into an "Inspirational Dream," a powerful force in making your business successful, according to Seelert.

"Lots of companies have a vision or mission statement. At Saatchi & Saatchi, we have an Inspirational Dream because dreams are more powerful than visions or missions," Seelert said. In support of this concept, he notes that a colleague once remarked, "Martin Luther King, Jr. did not stand at the Lincoln Memorial and say, `I have a Mission Statement.' "

Seelert has received wide acclaim for his book "Start with the Answer," a back-to-basics primer for aspiring leaders in business, government or education. He has been CEO of five companies in three different industries, amassing a reputation as a turnaround expert, reviving the fortunes of businesses and brands in the USA and internationally. After graduating from Harvard and Harvard Business School, he had a 23-year career with General Foods, progressing from sales and marketing to general management to president and CEO of Worldwide Coffee and International Foods. He has been chairman of Saatchi & Saatchi for the past 12 years.

The Alliance of Business Professionals and the Chamber of Commerce are also planning a second event with Jim Citrin of Spencer Stuart, an internationally recognized executive recruitment firm, in conjunction with his presentation for the New Canaan Library's Authors on Stage program on Monday, Dec. 12 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Citrin will discuss his new book, "You Need a Leader -- Now What? How to Choose the Best Person for Your Organization." After sharing research from his book, he will lead an interactive discussion of the skills needed to fill any leadership position, from the head of a small business or community group to the CEO of a Fortune 500 Corporation.
