Actress wins award for role in STONC production

Janelle Robinson won the Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical award from the Connecticut Critics Circle for her role as Bloody Mary in the Summer Theatre of New Canaan's 2013 production of "South Pacific."

Prior to her role with the theater, Robinson performed in the Broadway show "Mary Poppins."

Doug Shankman also was nominated for Outstanding Choreography for the musical "Grease." It was Shankman's third nomination in that category by the Connecticut Critics Circle for a theater production.

The theater also received nominations for the 2013-14 season from Broadway World critics for "South Pacific." Allegra Libonati was nominated for Best Director of a Musical, Tiffin Borelli for Best Actress in a Musical, Jason Michael Evans for Best Featured Actor in a Musical and Robinson for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical. For "Grease," Shankman was nominated for Best Choreography and Christian Libonati was nominated for Best Actor in a Musical for his role as Danny Zuko.
