A Better Chance of New Canaan began its 39th year by welcoming two new freshmen, along with five returning students.

The seven boys live at the ABC House on Locust Avenue with resident directors Nora McCarthy and Stu Weiner, and their two children, while they attend New Canaan High School. The boys completely immerse themselves in the community and spend quality time with their host families.

In the years that the program has been in New Canaan, the four-year residential program has been supported by local contributions, as well as an annual fundraiser that takes place each fall. This year, the fundraiser is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Country Club of New Canaan.

More than 55 host families in New Canaan have been instrumental in helping more than 65 students move on to successful college, post-graduate and professional careers.
