Richard G. Murphy, 46, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol April 29 at 12:47 a.m.

An officer observed Murphy driving around the stop sign on Cherry Street near East Avenue. Murphy was pulled over because he did not use his turn signal properly while turning. Upon approaching Murphy, the officer smelled the odor of alcohol, saw his eyes were bloodshot and speech was slurred. He failed various field sobriety tests and was taken to headquarters.

Murphy was also charged with failure to use a turn signal. He posted a $250 bond and will appear in court May 10.
