A $2,500 award for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons involved in the mutilation and death of a cat and three birds in New Canaan has been posted by an anonymous person.
The decapitated head of a black cat was found Oct. 14 at the end of a common driveway on Laurel Road. Following that incident, police also received reports of a decapitated bird's head on Autumn Lane. Since then, two more cases of decapitated birds have been reported to the New Canaan Police Department.
Police believe that all four incidents may be connected.
The individual posting the reward cites statistics that show there is a direct correlation between those who torture and kill animals and perpetrators of violent crimes against people.
