Walter Stewart's Market presented checks totaling $1,842.27 to 19 participating nonprofit organizations, the proceeds for which came from the New Canaan store's annual Holiday Donation Days T-Bill drive in December.

"The Holiday T-Bill drive caps another successful year for our Donation Days program. It's a great feeling to be able to give back to our shoppers' favorite local organizations," Alex Stewart, general manager of Walter Stewart's and great-grandson of the store's founder, said.

Walter Stewart's shoppers designated T-Bill rewards to:

New Canaan Food Pantry, $295; A Better Chance, $425; Strays & Others, $276.95; New Canaan Library, $223.62; Staying Put, $85; New Canaan Historical Society, $75; Day Care Center of New Canaan, $75; Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, $65; New Canaan Sewing Group, $54.40; New Canaan Community Foundation, $50; New Canaan Nature Center, $50; Red Cross, $50; New Canaan Cares, $50; Getabout, $50; Arts for Healing, $38.36; Horizons, $35; New Canaan Society of the Arts, $35; Outback Teen Center, $25; and New Canaan YMCA, $25.

Walter Stewart's shoppers receive "T-Bill" rewards, which they can use to help provide financial assistance to participating nonprofits during Donation Days fundraisers throughout the year.

This year through the T-Bill Donation Days program, Walter Stewart's has donated $3,872.27 to nonprofits, $1,601.89 to the New Canaan High School Scholarship Fund, as well as more than 100 Thanksgiving turkeys to Person-to-Person for families in need.

Walter Stewart's Market, 229 Elm St., has been in business in New Canaan since 1907.
