14-year-old boy hit with BB

A 15-year-old male New Canaan resident was shot in the back with a BB gun pellet on Park Street Sept. 3 at 3:13 p.m.
Police said the victim was riding his bike on Park Street with a 14-year-old friend at 2:45 p.m. when he heard a loud pop and felt pain in his lower back. His friend then found a BB gun pellet in his lower back just under the skin. After speaking with the boys, police identified the shooter as a 17-year-old male from Park Street using an Airsoft gun. He told police he was targeting the pole and hit the boy by accident while he was shooting from a window at a residence.

The 17-year-old was issued a summons for second-degree reckless endangerment by way of a youthful offender.
He was released on a promise to appear and will appear in court Sept. 14.
