A New Canaan woman attempting to open an account with Kohl's in Norwalk learned someone fraudulently opened an account there under her name, according to police.
The 61-year-old Church Street resident told police July 5 that the account was opened a week prior and there already had been about $1,000 worth of charges, according to the report.
To open the account, the person must have had the victim's name, date of birth and Social Security number, police said.
The investigation is continuing.
