The time has come for the final musical of the year from New Canaan High School. "The Secret Garden" runs Friday and Saturday in the NCHS auditorium at 7:30 p.m. The musical, by Marsha Norman and Lucy Simon, is based on the children's classic book by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

"The Secret Garden," set in 1911, tells the story of a 10 year-old-orphaned girl, Mary Lennox (Keri DeTullio) who travels to England from India to live with relatives she's never met. Among them are her uncle, widower Archibald Craven (Nick Zanca) who has never gotten over the loss of his late wife, Lili (Anne Achebaum) who appears in the show as a ghost among other haunting characters and Dr. Neville Craven (Ryan Stiffelman), Archibald Craven's brother who manages the house in which they all live.

After a cold reception by the housekeeper, Mrs. Medlock (Julia Duray), Mary meets and befriends a young maid in the house, Martha (Alexa Holtsberger), her brother Dickon (Andrew Gruseke), and her bed-ridden cousin Colin (Rebecca Mellinger). Before long she finds the secret garden, which she helps to bring back to life. And, like the restored garden, much is brought back to life in the lives of all the household in the end.

Tickets will be on sale in the High School lobby from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. through Friday, and up to one hour prior to show times.

Sponsors of the show include Garden Catering, New Canaan Cleaners, New Canaan Veterinary Hospital, The Studio, New England Academy of Dance, HTG Investment Advisors, Performing Arts Conservatory of New Canaan, and Karl Chevrolet.
