‘Paw Patrol Live! Great Pirate Adventure’ arrives at Oakdale in Wallingford Friday after Stamford show

Chase! Rubble! Rocky! Zuma! Let’s go, pups!
We’ve actually attended one or two of these TV-to-stage kid shows with talking animals, and it can be a draining experience — for parents and kids.
The excitement of seeing a live version of animated “Peppa Pig” or, in this case, “PAW Patrol Live!” is countered by the simplicity of the productions, stories and songs (not to mention marketing aspects that will continue in the lobby and in ads for toys in the holiday season).
But it’s an exciting show for the under-7 set, and Oakdale Theatre has the touring troupe for “PAW Patrol Live! The Great Pirate Adventure” Friday, Dec. 8, and Saturday, Dec. 9, for four shows. (A different version of “PAW Patrol” is at the Stamford Palace Tuesday, Dec. 5, at 6 p.m. and Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.)
The plot: It's Pirate Day in Adventure Bay, and Mayor Goodway is getting ready for a big celebration. But first, Ryder and his team of pirate pups must rescue Capt. Turbot from a mysterious cavern. When they do, they also discover a secret pirate treasure map! The PAW Patrol show also includes lessons about social skills and problem-solving.
Toyota Oakdale Theatre, 95 S Turnpike Road, Wallingford. Friday, Dec. 8, 6 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 6, 10 a.m., 2 and 6 p.m. $149-$19. 866-448-7849.
