Ashe works at historical society

The New Canaan Historical Society has a new exhibit in The Silvermine Room featuring the works of E.M. Ashe. The Silvermine Room is dedicated to exhibiting the art and history of the early members of the Silvermine Artist's Colony. All of the works in the Ashe exhibit are on loan from private collections; the majority are from a grandson of the artist.

The exhibit will remain on view until Sept. 3. The Historical Society hours are Tuesday to Friday 9:30 to 4:30 and Saturday 9:30 to 12:30.

`Charlie Brown' playing at Waveny Park

Summer Theatre Of New Canaan presents "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown" to July 9; and "Carousel" July 16 ­to Aug 6. at Waveny Park. Tickets from $20.

Theatre for A Young Audience performances include "A Year With Frog and Toad" weekends Saturday ­to Aug 6 and "Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse" weekends July 23 to­ Aug 6. Tickets are $12 to $15.

Historical society offers camp for kids

Children can discover what life was like in the American past through historically inspired crafts and activities at the New Canaan Historical Society summer camps.

Camp weeks are July 11 to 15, July 18 to 22, Aug. 8 to 1, and Aug. 15 to 19 from 9:15 to noon. The camp is open to children 6 to 11 years old.

Children will explore the society's historic buildings, including the 1764 Hanford-Silliman House, 1799 one-room Rock School, tool museum and the print shop.

Photography exhibit graces medical group

Ben Larrabee will showcase a number of his works in the exhibit, "Moments of Grace: Family Portraits," at the New Canaan Medical Group, 173 East Ave.

A nationally recognized portrait photographer, Larrabee's images move the viewer with their spontaneity, clarity and detail.

Larrabee's portraits are on exhibit through Aug. 31. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
