Nutrition specialist to host seminar
The Bank of New Canaan will host a seminar, "Weighing the Facts about Weight Control," presented by local health and nutrition expert and longtime New Canaan resident, Barbara Schmidt. The free seminar will take place at the bank's 208 Elm St. offices on June 15 from 6 to 7 p.m.
Schmidt is the nutrition lifestyle specialist at Norwalk Hospital. She currently teaches an eight-week health and weight loss program, "Transformations," at the hospital that focuses on lifestyle, nutrition, behavior modification techniques, exercise, cooking techniques and how to manage dining out. The seminar at the bank will give an overview of the tools that one needs to develop a meal plan tailored to a specific medical history, food preferences and lifestyle. To RSVP, call 203-659-7639.
Pura Vida seeks volunteers

The community will once again come together on Saturday and Sunday in an event organized and hosted by the Pura Vida High School Club and sponsored by the Bank of New Canaan, to pack 200,000 meals for hungry children.
The club's teen members and parents are seeking volunteers for two-hour shifts between 1:30 and 8:30 p.m. Saturday, and 12:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Sunday at the cafeteria of the New Canaan High School.

PR expert to speak
PR industry expert Julia Hood will be the keynote speaker for the Fairfield County Public Relations Association's annual meeting and networking event on June 15 at 11:30 a.m. at the Shore & Country Club in Norwalk.
Networking will begin at 11:30 a.m. and the luncheon program runs from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. The cost is $40 for member pre-registrants, $50 for nonmember pre-registrants, and $60 for all walk-ins.
