The Taste of the Town Stroll, New Canaan's street foodie festival, is getting ready for its 5th annual event, scheduled for Thursday, August 20, 2015. And this year, it has a new feature which is sure to be a hit.

The Chamber of Commerce's event has been successful for both businesses and attendees alike, drawing crowds of nearly 500 people in the past. Over 20 different restaurants and stores will bring their products to showcase to event goers.

The event will also hold a "food-raiser" to collect donations for New Canaan Food Pantry. Requested items include coffee (both regular drip and instant coffee), juice boxes, crackers, pasta sauce, canned stew, canned chicken, mayonnaise, tea bags, and family-portion snacks. And those who donate can participate in a challenge to win prizes. Those who donate will receive a map of the vendors; after you visit at least twelve vendors on site, you can turn your map back in to be entered in the raffle. Over $7,000 worth of prizes will be given away to event goers who partake, so be sure to remember your items for donation and bring them to the registration table when you arrive.

This year, starting at 5:00, the Chamber of Commerce will host its first Lobster Roll Battle to determine which New Canaan restaurant makes the best roll. Participants, which include Baldanza Natural Market & Cafe, Cava Wine Bar & Restaurant, Fishtales Seafood, Fjord Fish Market, and Silvermine Market, will have to sell their lobster roll in a one minute pitch to the judges before the taste test. Judges include First Selectman Rob Mallozzi III, Executive Director of the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce, Tucker Murphy, and Elm Restaurant Executive Chef, Luke Venner.

The stroll will take place on August 20 from 6:00 to 9:00 at the Pop Up Park after the Lobster Roll Battle.  For more details, head to the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce's website.
